Bangladesh borders would be sealed like those of Pak: Shinde

MEERUT: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said to curb infiltration, borders situated near Bangladesh will be sealed like those near Pakistan.

Mr Shinde was inaugurating the RAF academy of Public Order (RAPO) in Vedvyaspuri, India’s first riot police and public order management academy.

The decision to fortify borders near Bangladesh was taken by the Centre after the Home Minister toured Gujarat and other parts of the country situated near Pakistan and Bangladesh border.

Mr Shinde said police force should be an epitome of peace. Instead of holding a gun and baton in its hands, the police should create an environment of fear to prevent illegal activities but at the same time maintain a friendly disposition.

A developing country is characterised by its law and order situation and how responsible its citizens are, the Minister said and added the Rapid Action Force (RAF) since 1992 has given us ten unbaised, constitutional battalions for the safety of the country creating a niche in society which is dynamic and sensitive in nature.

With the advent of technology in the country and its all-round development, some anti-social elements utilise such kind of development to create insecure environment for society and it is pertinent to control them, the Minister said. This task can be best be carried out by the security forces in the country, he added.

He also said the research and experiment are two sides of a coin and for improving them international exchange programme will be initiated for researchers and scientist.

To increase reaction time and management of tense situation, Mr Shinde stated subjects on social sciences and other new fields should be actively experimented to install the name of the academy on a global level.

Mr Shinde also his expressed disappointment on how the media sensationalised a minor accident when his helicopter wheel got stuck to the helipad. Except his daughter, who knew the reality, the entire country was concerned about his safety. He urged the journalists to refrain from sensationalising news.
