Bangladesh observes National Tea Day

DHAKA, June 5 : With the theme Determination of Smart Bangladesh, Export-Oriented Tea Industry, the 4th National Tea Day was observed across the South Asian country with a message to develop further the tea industry.

 

Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages, conveying greetings to all who are involved in the tea sector.

 

 

Inaugurating a festival marking the celebration of the National Tea Day on Tuesday, Hasina asked all concerned to add value to tea instead of only selling tea leaves in bulk as the demand for diversified tea products was increasing globally.

 

 

She emphasized the necessity of diversifying tea products to meet international market demands for maximizing export potential. She also stressed the need for research to ensure the multifaceted use of tea, its production and marketing. (UNI)
