KATHUA, Sept 29: The students of Government Degree College Bani took out a protest demonstration against the Assistant Professor of the College who has dishonoured the National Anthem during a function held at college today. The students took out protest march to SDM Office, Bani and demand legal action against the College Professor for dishonoring the National Anthem.
The matter took place when the college arranged a program on the occasion of two years of Surgical strike and a colourful programme was organised by the staff and students at Degree Collage Bani on the occasion. At the beginning all the students and staff members stood up when the Nation Anthem was being sung. However controversy started when one of the Assistant Professors namely Dr. Mohd Tawseef Bhat refused to stand up when the Nation Anthem was being sung by the students.
He openly refused to honour the National Anthem saying that it did not pertain to him. Students protested against the anti- national activity of the professor and held a protest demonstration. The students took out protest march to SDM Office and submitted a written complaint to Sub- Divisional Magistrate, Bani, Ajeet Singh .
The SDM immediately issued instructions to Tehsildar Bani to hold inquiry into the matter.
