BANI (Kathua), July 15: Former MLA Billawar  and senior Congress leader Thakur Balbir Singh (MLC) has alleged that people from remote Bani, Duggan, Loang and  Taggar area are facing many problems due to Govt apathy.
Addressing  party workers’  meeting  here today, Balbir Singh alleged that road from Bani to Taggar and Billawar, which was started by the R&B about 20 years ago, could not be completed till today, moreover,  about  24 kms road from Bani to Taggar is in worst condition. It is totally Kucha  and transport operators avoid to ply their vehicles  on this road. This 6 kms road also remained under ERA for some time but when a blue eyed contractor abandoned the work and escaped the Government later handed over the works to R&B/ PMGSY. He said the Basohli-Bani road condition is also  very bad from Kardoh to Bani while the pace of work under BRO /GREF is very slow from Bani to Sarthal and  Chhattergalla. The GREF authorities even failed to conduct repair work on the road at Bani town. The road surface is broken in the main market and there are no side drains. The State Government has failed to take up the issue with the higher authorities in BRO at Jammu, Srinagar and Delhi.
The Congress legislator alleged that Degree College at Bani is being run in the Higher Secondary School complex for the last six years and concerned authorities have failed to complete College building for the last 6 years. There is no accountability at all.  He also alleged that people are not getting adequate ration. The CAPD dealers are providing just one kg rice and 3 kg Atta per soul and no sugar to the consumers. The people are forced to purchase ration from the open market. There is scarcity of  Kerosene oil.  The condition of power and water supply was also worst  and the Government has failed to provide essential supplies in this area, the Cong leader said.
Senior Congress leader Pankaj Dogra, Block president Duggan Chet Ram and BCC president Bani Roshan Lal also spoke on the occasion.
