Bani police arrests 16 gamblers, seizes Rs 52,950 as stake money

KATHUA, Nov 2: J&K Police Kathua last night arrested 16 gamblers in Bani and seized Rs 52,950 as stake money from their possession.
Police said it received specific information at Police Station (PS) Bani and raided many places to trap the gamblers who were gambling in Bani town. During night raid 16 persons namely Manohar Lal, son of Nand Lal of Bani, Varinder Kumar, son of Chaman Lal of Drabal, Jai Ram son of Chandu of Drabal, Bashir Ahmed son of Shukar Din of Chandal, Anchal Sharma, son of Paras Ram of Drabal, Vinod Kumar, son of Mohan Singh of Sirra Bani, Deep Raj, son of Gathia Singh of Khader, Ravinder son of Chaman Lal of Drabal tehsil Bani were arrested from Drabal.
Besides, Mohinder Singh, son of Kesar Singh of Dhaggar, Radha Krishan, son of Prem Nath of Bani, Panku Sharma, son of Krishan Chand of Bani, Mohd Shamim, son of Gul Mohd of Gatti, Amit Kumar, son of Uttam Chand of Bani, Angraiz Singh, son of Om Parkash of Bani Morha Sirra, Sandeep Khajuria, son of Hans Raj of Bani, Mohd Latief, son of Abdul Majid of Koti Chandhiar A/p Bani were arrested from Bani town.
Police said total 16 persons were arrested from two places i.e Drabal and Bani town who were gambling outside the residential houses. Police seized Rs 27,550 from Drabal and RS 25400 from Bani town.
The total amount thus seized was Rs 52950 along with 52/52 playing cards from two different places and action U/S 13 of Gambling Act has been taken against the arrested persons. The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP PC Bani and over all supervision of SSP Kathua.
