Banks to remain open today

SRINAGAR, Aug 16: As the holiday on account of Jumat-ul-Vida will not be observed under the Negotiable Instrument Act, all the banks operating in Jammu and Kashmir will remain open tomorrow.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, August 17 will not be observed as Public Holiday on account of Jumat-ul-Vida as declared under the Negotiable Instrument Act.
However, the holiday will continue to be observed as State Holiday in Government offices and educational institutions.
Meanwhile, in view of the Eid-ul-Fitr, all business units and offices of J&K Bank in J&K will remain open for public transaction for full day on Friday August 17, 2012. In addition to this, the bank has already announced full working day on Saturday of all the business units in the state till last customer is served.
Meanwhile elaborate arrangements have been made by the bank to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations of its ATM network to meet the cash requirements of cardholders. In case of any assistance the customers have been asked to contact the Bank’s ATM Helpdesk telephone No. 0194-2481953.
