RAJOURI, Dec 17: In a major breakthrough against the menace of drug trafficking, a police team from Rajouri has recovered a significant quantity of banned psychotropic substances during routine patrolling near children’s park here.
During the patrol, the police team noticed two individuals moving in a suspicious manner. On seeing the police party, the duo attempted to flee the scene. The police chased them and , managed to apprehend one of them. He was carrying luggage bag.
The apprehended individual identified himself as Mohd Yousuf, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Ward No. 4, near Children’s Park, Rajouri. The second suspect, who managed to escape, has also been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
From the bag, the police recovered 689 strips of Tapentadol tablets, 36 strips of Pregabalin tablets totaling 540 tablets, and 6 strips of Tramadol tablets containing 60 tablets.
A case FIR No. 543/2024 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
