Bar Association forms committee to decide further course of action on strike

JAMMU, Nov 17: J&K High Court Bar Association has constituted an advisory committee to guide and decide the further course of action on its ongoing agitation regarding two demands i.e. proposed shifting of J&K High Court from Janipura to Raika and vesting powers of Registration upon Revenue Authorities.
The advisory committee was constituted unanimously during executive committee meeting of the Bar Association. The committee comprised of D K Khajuria Advocate, V R Wazir Senior Advocate, D S Saini Advocate, Surinder Singh Advocate, Sunil Sethi Senior Advocate, all former presidents of Bar Association, U K Jalali senior Advocate, former Advocate General J&K state, K S Johal senior Advocate, Surinder Kour senior Advocate, Rajesh Kotwal Advocate (former vice president of J&K High Court Bar Association), M U Salaria (former vice president, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu) and Rupinder Singh Advocate (former general secretary, J&K High Court Bar Association).
The first meeting of the advisory committee is scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. November 18 at 11 AM in the office of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
During the meeting executive committee meeting, the members observed that the Chief Justice of J&K High Court has made it clear that there is no formal decision/proposal to shift J&K High Court from Janipur to Raika.
They said as far as the second demand is concerned, the Chief Secretary of J&K UT had a meeting with the office bearers of J&K High Court on November 15 after the full court reference of demitting the office by Justice Rashid Ali Dar, Judge of J&K High Court, in which, the office bearers of J&K High Court Bar Association strongly projected the demand before the Chief Secretary and after discussion the Chief Secretary directed Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Pawan Kotwal to hold discussion with the office bearers of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
“After telephonic discussion with the Financial Commissioner (Revenue), the meeting of office bearers of J&K High Court Bar Association and the members of the advisory committee is tentatively scheduled to be held on November 18 at 12 noon,” the members added.
