POONCH, Dec 26: Bar Association, Mendhar today demanded Chief Justice, J&K High Court to establish an Additional Sessions Court at Mendhar.
Addressing a press conference here at Mendhar, Advocate Shoket Ahmed Choudhary, president, Bar Association Mendhar, along with other learned members of the Bar, said that the Bar Association Mendhar has unanimously passed a resolution for establishment of Additional Sessions Court at Mendhar.
“Through the medium of this resolution, it is submitted that our court is one of the busiest court in Jammu province wherein bulk of civil as well as criminals cases are pending disposal and at present more than 1600 files are pending. Moreover, miscellaneous countless work is increasing day by day and the work load is so high that one Munsiff is unable to handle the work pressure,” the Bar president said.
He said that more than 75 % civil and criminal cases pending disposal in Session Court Poonch belongs to Mendhar, Balakote and Mankote tehsils which is more than 50 km away from Munsiff Court Mendhar and urged Chief Justice, J&K High Court to establish an Additional Sessions Court at Mendhar for the smooth delivery of justice system.
Advocate Shoket Choudhary also submitted that the court building of Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Mendhar is in very worst conditions since 2009 when the same was set on fire by the mob during the unrest and later on the building was declared as unsafe by the PWD during the earthquake when some cracks were observed in the walls of the Court building.
“Presently the court is functioning in this wobbly building, the roof of which is made up of wood and covered by Tin sheets but they too are in deteriorate conditions and some of them has been totally damaged,” he regretted.
