Bar Association organizes lecture on NDPS Act

POONCH, Feb 21: Bar Association Poonch today organized a lecture on NDPS Act.
The lecture was a part of series of lecture programme organized by Bar Association Poonch in order to groom young lawyers for the challenges of legal profession and make them aware with latest developments in the field of law.
Today’s was the first lecture of the series, which was delivered by Shokat Manhas, Senior Advocate and Ex-Public Prosecutor.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Poonch, Tahir Khurshid Raina, inaugurated the proceedings. In his inaugural address, he stressed upon the lawyers to keep on honing their professional skills and keep them fully equipped with developments going on in legal field and the judgements delivered by superior courts of the country.
He further said that the best judgement is always the reflection of best assistance rendered by a counsel in the case and therefore lawyers must work hard and get full command over the facts and law on the point before arguing the case in the court.
Advocate Shokat Manhas during his lecture touched important provisions of NDPS Act like Section 37, 41, 42, 50 and 57. He also apprised the young lawyers how to project lapses in investigation and violations of mandatory provisions of the Act before the court in a case pertaining to this Act.
The lecture was followed by question-answer session by the participant lawyers.
President, Bar Association, Poonch, Taj Hussain Shah, Senior Advocate said that more such lectures will be organized in future.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Secretary of the Bar, Advocate Anjum Mehmood.
