JAMMU, Dec 4:  Bar Association Jammu today expressed grave concern over the statement issued by JKLF Chairman Mohammed Yasin Malik calling for a shutdown in Kashmir valley in protest against the awarding of life imprisonment to two militants by TADA Court in Jammu.
In an emergent meeting of the Bar, its president B S Slathia said, “the judicial system in the country is an independent institution working towards justice dispensation and has emerged as a last ray of hope for those seeking justice”.
He urged the State Government to deal firmly with those who castigate the judicial system as any laxity on the part of Government can encourage the subversive forces active in the State to discourage the Judges/ Judicial Officers from performing their duties without any fear or favour.
Mr Slathia stressed that the verdict of a law court cannot be allowed to be protested on streets and urged the State Government not to become a mute spectator to the seditious and contemptuous statements issued by the likes of Yasin Malik, who is attempting to cast aspersions on the Courts while facing the charges of sedition.
“The Bar Association Jammu stands by the independence and supremacy of the judicial system and urges the State Government to deal such elements with iron hand”, Mr Slathia said.
