In a meeting of the office bearers of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu held under the chairmanship of Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj, attempt of the Government to change the names of historical and heritage sites of the three regions of the state was strongly condemned.
The Association called upon the State authorities particularly Tourism Department to desist from giving another name to the Bahu Colony which is situated near historical Bahu Fort. “The word “Bahu” which finds its mention in the revenue records of the area and historical books of the State has its immense importance”, the Association said, adding “any attempt to fiddle with the historical and heritage places or their names would be viewed very seriously as the sentiments of people of respective areas are attached with them”.
