Srinagar, Jan 30: Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) under the banner of North Kashmir Journalist Association — an amalgam of journalists associations of north Kashmir districts — held its presidential elections on Saturday at Dakbanglow Baramulla in which 52 journalists of the district participated and Gulzar Ahmed Zargar was elected as president,
The election process was conducted by Chief Election Observer District Information Officer Nisar Ahmed Wani while as Kashmir Images’ North Kashmir Bureau Chief Reyaz Rashid was Returning Officer who was flanked by Assistant Returning Officer Bashir Ahmed Sofi from Information Department.
“Among 53 members of BJWA from Baramulla, Pattan, Sopore, Rafiabad, Sheeri and Uri tehsils 52 journalists exercise their right to vote. Gulzar Ahmed Zargar of Munsif TV/CNI, Sajad Hussain of ETV Udru and Shahid Imran of KBC News participated as presidential candidates in elections in which out of 52 votes polled Gulzar Ahmed Zargar got 29 votes, Sajad Hussain 16 votes while as Shahid Imran secured 7 votes,” a statement issued by BWJA said.  Senior journalist Gulzar Ahmed Zargar was declared as president of BWJA.
