‘Barati’ murdered in Samba village

SAMBA, June 28: A young member of a marriage party was murdered by some youth at village Bupner Garh in remote area of Nud, in district Samba last night.
Reports said that a `Barat’ party from Sumb had gone to Bupner Garh last night. During `Milani’, there was exchange of hot words and scuffle between the local boys and the young `Baratis’. However, with the intervention of village elders and other senior members of marriage party, the matter was resolved.
The area is remote and there is no road communication. The journey is hilly and nearly 4 km on-foot. When the `Baratis’ were returning on foot in the darkness up to road where bus was parked, the village boys ambushed enroute and attacked Sanjay Singh and 4-5 other boys accompanying the `Barat’ with lathis and other lethal weapons. While the five boys managed to escape, Sanjay who was attacked on head fell down. He was severely beaten up and left nearly dead by the boys who then escaped from the spot.
The ‘Baratis’ found Sanjay Singh missing and then returned to find his where abouts. They found him lying on the kutcha track in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Samba hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead. Sanjay Singh alias Niku (25), son of Parkash Singh, hailed from Dussain village in Sumb. His brother who was also attacked, however, managed to escape.
Addl SP Samba Dr Koushal Sharma, accompanied by DySP Manish Anand and SHO Samba Rajinder Khajuria, along with some force rushed to the village in the morning. The police said that all the seven accused persons involved in the attack on `Baratis’ and murder have been identified.
Two of them have been arrested and they were identified as Ghar Singh, son of Chattar Singh and Raman Singh, son of Kabla Singh, residents of Bupner Garh (Samba). The police was conducting raids to nab other five accused persons. A murder case stand registered against them, the Addl SP said.
