KATRA, Aug 30: Baridars Sangharsh Committee (BSC) today staged a protest demonstration against the Government and Shrine Board by holding a protest rally, here today.
After the rally, the protestors sat on dharna outside the Shrine Board Office and blocked the main Katra road for about two hours and disturbed the vehicular movement.
“We are observing black day today against the formation of the Shrine Board. It was on this day that the then Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Jagmohan Singh forced us out and took control of the Shrine,” Sham Singh president BSC said.
While addressing the protestors, Sham further said that for the last 36 years, the Government and Shrine Board were befooling the people, who are actual Sewadars of Mata Vaishno Devi. There are over 30,000 souls of Baridars who were thrown out in 1986 and snatched their worship right forcefully, he added.
Recalling the Prime Minister’s assurance to address the grievance of the erstwhile Baridars, Sham Singh lamented that the Prime Minister didn’t fulfil the promise he had made with the Baridars of Mata Vaishno Devi. “We would also like to remind the Prime Minister  to fulfil his election promise and solve their genuine issue,” he added.
Vishal Samnotra, Kuldeep Singh, Shankar Singh, Manav Sanmotra, Karan, Rattan Singh and others were present during the protest.
