SRINAGAR, Sept 12: Sarjan Barkati’s daughter tore apart her father’s nomination papers today, expressing frustration over the lack of response from Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) chief and Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Abdul Rashid Sheikh alias Engineer Rashid.
She had visited Rashid’s residence seeking support for her father but returned disappointed. “I had high hopes for Engineer Rashid. But after this, I wonder who we can turn to for support. My father and mother are in jail, whom can we seek help from?”
She recounted her visit to her father in jail, where he expressed belief that Rashid would be the only leader to offer support. “If he won’t support us, then who will?” she questioned. “What kind of leader is he? I am grateful to the people of Langate but not to Engineer Rashid.”
She also highlighted the sacrifices her family has made, lamenting that despite having parents, they feel like orphans due to their current situation.
