JAMMU, Aug 29: BJP senior leader and Councilor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Sanjay Kumar Baru ensured the residents of Ward No. 41 of Talab Tillo area for the early construction of proper drainage system and solution of water crisis in their locality.
Sanjay Kumar Baru was told that the water supply crisis in the Anand Nagar and Bank Colony Anand Nagar (Extension) are being faced by the people time and again. Taking note of the problem, Baru today toured the area along with BJP leader Surinder Kour, booth president Jangjeet Singh and officials from JMC and PHE departments.
While interacting with the local residents Sanjay Baru said that the issue will be resolved for once with the proper solution. He said that the Jal Shakti Vibhaag is running an Abhiyaan to ensure water supply to every home in a short span of time. He linked this to the mission given by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to ensure the potable water to every household. He mentioned that a handsome amount have already been allocated to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in the recent budget for the same. He also added that on the same line, DPR for an overhead tank in the Ward is already submitted and it is expected that very soon its work will be started.
Baru said that main reason for the irregular supply is due to ongoing daily wagers strike and the lack of coordination between various departments PHE mechanical, maintenance and the electrical wing, but he said that with the 74th amendment there will be improved coordination in between these departments as the domain of some of these is being given under the JMC onwards. He ensured that soon the issue will be resolved to the satisfaction of the local residents.
Earlier, the local residents of Bank Colony, Anand Nagar(Ext.) gathered at road side to demands new tubewell in the Mohalla near transformer and also showed their resentment against the shortage of drinking water, but after being pacified by the local councilor Sanjay Kumar Baru, they dispersed peacefully.
On the occasion, Sanjay Kumar Baru also inspected the deep drain cum irrigation channel of Anand Nagar, Bohri for the required Desilting Work.
