Baru, Khajuria express concern over encroachments of Nallahs

JAMMU, Aug 11: People regularly suffer losses due to illegal encroachment on the banks and substandard construction of Durga Nagar-Kabir Nagar Nallah at Talab Tillo, stated BJP senior leader and JMC Councilor, Ward 41, Sanjay Kumar Baru, who took the stock of the damage caused to the people of Colonel Colony and Durga Nagar due to heavy flash flood.
Talking to the media persons, Sanjay Baru said due to last month heavy flash floods and overflowing damages the protection wall of nallah near Kabir Nagar in Ward 41 caused the death of female labourer. He said being a local councilor, he approached the JMC officials number of times for early construction of protection wall or some alternative to avoid the further loss in the area but no action has been taken so for by the authorities and today the residents of the locality again suffered loss due to heavy rains.
Expressing the displeasure, Baru warned the authorities that if the work of tying the stone crate at the damaged protection wall is not started on priority, we will have no other way than to sit on the road and protest for which the administration will be totally responsible, he added.
Raghubir Singh Sadhyal, JMC Nigran Sanjay Sharma, ex headmaster, Harbajan Singh, Sant Ram, JE Satish Chander, Charan Dass, Kirpal Ram, Amit Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Kapoor also accompanied the local councilor.
Meanwhile, BJP Kissan Morcha president, Omi Khajuria also expressed his serious concern over the encroachment of Nallah by some people resulting in flash floods in some localities of Barnai and Anuradhapuram.
Khajuria who visited the area today said despite his repeated pleas the authorities failed to remove the encroachments with the result the maize crop of some of the farmers in Barnai has been completely damaged due to flash floods and walls of residential houses and house hold goods totally damaged in the floods. He demanded immediate compensation for the people and removal of encroachments and warned agitation in case the Nallah which is the outlet of Barnai Talab was not restored immediately.
