JAMMU, June 21: Expressing grave concern over the shortage of the drinking water supply in the town areas in the hot season, BJP senior leader and JMC councilor, Sanjay Kumar Baru pressed for ensuring the adequate drinking water supply and needed early repair of PHE pipes in the city especially in Talab Tillo area.
Locals residing in the area approached the councilor, Sanjay Baru and asked him to take necessary action to ensure the arrangements for the drinking water supply, which they insisted was a basic life amenity not a luxury.
Baru, immediately raised the matter with the concerned PHE Chief Engineer, Manesh Bhat in the presence of Executive Engineer, Vijay Gupta to discuss the water supply and leakages.
While meeting with the concerned officials, Sanjay Baru asked them to ensure that the regular supply of drinking water is maintained. He also asked them to take necessary action for the immediate repair of damaged pipes thus plugging the existing leakages.
Baru said the JMC councilors are working day and night to ensure all the required basic facilities to the masses by upgrading overall infrastructure in the city. He said, due to the negligence of PHE officials on ground, people are suffering from various basic issues like shortage of drinking water, ditches on roads etc. He added that these loopholes are also causing an eyesore in ensuring the smart city initiative.
Baru raised the demand for an overhead tank in the Wazir lane and the change of worn out PHE pipes in the Ward.
Manesh Bhat listened to the senior BJP leader and immediately called up the Executive Engineer concerned and assured the Councilor that all leakages will be repaired on priority. He also ensured to include the DPR of new pipes from Patta Chungi to Anand Nagar and new overhead tank at Wazir Lane in next CAPEX budget.
