Basant Panchmi celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Feb 1: Basant Panchmi—the religious Hindu festival of Saraswati Puja was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety.
Basant Panchmi was celebrated in the Music Department of Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar with great fervour and gaiety. VK Sambyal, Ex-Director Radio Kashmir Jammu was the chief guest, who recited “Raag Sarodh”. Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College stressed upon the importance of the festival symbolizing the harbinger of spring. HOD Music Department, Prof Renu Sehgal also spoke on the occasion. Dogri songs and bhajans were presented by the students of the Music Department. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Priyanka.
A cultural programme was organised by the Department of Indian Music of Government MAM College to commemorate Basant Panchmi. Prof Renu Nanda. Prof Subash Chander Sharma and Prof Sunita Sudan were the guests on the occasion. Saraswati Vandana followed by musical performances were presented by the students of the department. The event was organised by the students under the supervision of Prof Manisha Khajuria, Prof Renu Razdan Gigoo and Prof Hemani.
MHAC School Nagbani celebrated Basant Panchmi. Flowers and floral petals were offered to the Goddess by Principal Sween Puri, staff members and the students. Principal apprised the staff and the students of the science and traditions associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, a tree talk was also organized to enlighten students about the enormous contribution of trees in the survival of life on this planet. Dr OP Sharma, Director Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing conducted 480th Tree Talk with the students of MHAC Nagbani.
On the occasion of Basant Panchmi, BSF School paid tributes to Goddess Sarawati to remove the ignorance and enlighten the path of children with wisdom. To mark the occasion, a plethora of activities were organised in the morning assembly. Principal Dr S K Shukla along with the staff offered flowers to Goddess Saraswati and sought her blessings. Bushan Bhardwaj recited Saraswati shalok. Bhajans in the praise of Goddess Saraswati were sung by the students. Shlok Gayan, speeches and bhajans were among the various activities held on the occasion.
Maharaja Harisingh DAV Cent. Public School Akhnoor celebrated Basant Panchmi with great pomp and show. Students and teachers expressed their views on the occasion. Principal of the school apprised the gathering about the importance of the day.
Basant Panchmi was celebrated in Shakti Shiksha Kender Higher Secondary School, Marh. On the occasion, Goddess Saraswati puja was organised by the management and the teachers. Managing Director LC Gandotra and Principal Suresh Kumar threw light on the importance of the day. The students also conveyed their knowledge regarding the day.
Basant Panchmi was celebrated at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. Pooja of Goddess Saraswati was performed on the occasion. A colourful programme including skits, speeches and group dance was presented by the students. Kewal Krishan Sharma, Managing Director of the school threw light on the importance of the day. Raj Kumari, Secretary of the School, Ved Parkash, Retd ZEO and staff members were also present on the occasion.
SNS Vidya Mandir, Camp Road, Talab Tillo celebrated Basant Panchmi. Dr Rama Kant Dubey, Advisor, SNS Vidya Mandir was the chief guest, while Rajendra Kumar, Manager-cum-Secretary, SNS Vidya Mandir, Parvina Jha, Principal-cum-Director, 10+2 DBN Vidya Mandir, Amar Villa were also present. On the occasion, nursery students performed the dance depicting Basant Panchmi. In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Neelam Sabharwal, Principal, SNS Vidya Mandir, Camp Road Talab Tillo.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated Basant Panchmi. In the assembly, students and staff members attired in yellow dresses expressed their views on Basant Panchmi. Rishika of 6th class and Aditi Khajuria of 8th class gave a splendid speech on the celebration of Basant Panchmi. A kite flying ceremony by students and teachers was inaugurated by the Principal Shuchita Gupta and Administrator Govind Ram Sharma. Principal Shuchita Gupta threw light upon the significance of Basant Panchmi.
Apple Kids International Pre-School, Bantalab celebrated Basant Panchmi. Clad in yellow dresses, students were made to recognize yellow color through various games and play-way activities. Principal of the school Arti Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Stepping Stone Playway School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Basant Panchmi. Students attired in yellow dresses worshipped Saraswati—Goddess of Knowledge. Kids were made to recognize yellow color through various games and play-way activities. Principal Anjali Sharma and Director Vikash Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of the day.
Devotees of Baba Ballo Ji Dev Asthan at Jagti celebrated Basant Panchmi with religious fever. On the occasion, the follower of Babaji Sukh Dev Ji Maharaj delivered religious sermons before hundreds of devotees. The birth anniversary of Bab Baloo Ji Dev Asthan was also celebrated by the devotees at the Dev Asthan who paid their respects at the Dev Asthan.
On the occasion of Basant Panchmi, the students of Sharda Sangeet Sadan, Gandhi Nagar organised a musical programme. The programme started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by bhajans, dogri folk and classical ragas by students. They also played guitar and synthesizer. Teachers Mamta Kalotra and Michel were also present on the occasion. President of the institute Satyabhama Dubey explained the importance of the day.
