There is a long list of the demands and those of the projects which stand sanctioned for Basohli constituency since 2014/2015 but neither the problems have been addressed nor the projects have seen the light of day rather many of the projects like herbal garden sanctioned in 2007, Kendriya Vidyalaya Basohli functioning at Lakhanpur for the last 30 years, Nursing college for which the building of the old hospital was renovated, power transformer repair workshop have been hijacked by the MLAs of the neighboring constituencies and by the representatives sitting at Delhi.
The condition of the SDH Basohli is so deplorable that there is neither doctors nor equipments for the diagnosis. The operation theaters are non functional for the last eight years. Not even an ordinary operation is performed there. There is neither any provision of blood transfusion nor that of blood bank with the result many wounded persons and the pregnant succumb to excessive bleeding either during treatment or during their shifting. The SDH Basohli has become a referral hospital where the patients of head ache and ordinary sprain are referred to the cities or Pathankot. It is worth mentioning here that a pathological surgeon has been drawing lacs of monthly salary for the last five years without any work.
The so called Model H.Sec. School Basohli is functioning without the teaching staff especially Mathematics, English,Pol. Sc., Education and Commerce for the last 3 years The smart classes in the School are non functional which is directly affecting the studies of the budding generation of the area.
The Tourism Department of the UT has observed silence over the matters of boosting the tourism of the area because the headquarter of the CEO Basohli Bani development authority is located at Lakhanpur which is 90 Kms from Basohli and 200 kms from Bani. There is not even a fourth class employee from the Tourism Department to welcome the tourists.
The up gradation of 65 years old Girls High School Basohli to Hr. Sec. is still awaited when the feasibility report sought by the Director School Education Jammu stands submitted since long. It is believed that the report has been thrown in the dust bin. It is pertinent to mention here that the said school is the oldest among the schools of Kathua and Samba districts.
Sports stadium Basohli foundation stone was laid six years ago. The stadia of other constituencies have long been completed and have become operational.
Water sports stadium Basohli which was sanctioned with the one in Kashmir is still on papers and no headway has been made in this direction when the Srinagar water sport center has been functioning since 2021.
Solar energy project for which land measuring 3200 Kanals have been identified and which has got technical approval from the Solar Energy Department two years ago in nowhere in sight.
Basohli Dhar Mahanpur road which was taken under NABARD 15 years ago is still in papers.
9 MW power generation plant at Hutt Mashka has ceased to work eight years ago and still there is no hope of restoration of the project in the near future.
It can be easily inferred that Basohli constituency is destined to suffer in the hands of its own representatives and the inapt administration of the UT.

Stop polluting Talab Tillo Canal
This is to draw the attention of the JMC authorities towards the bad condition of Ranbir Canal Talab Tillo. The Canal is presently strewn with plastic bottle, polythene bags and other waste material.
While on one hand we are making Jammu a smart city and on the other hand we are polluting this majestic canal for which our ancestors have worked hard. This canal which brings a cool breeze during summer days has now become a eyesore casing greet discomfort to people.
It’s requested to the JMC authorities to launch an awareness drive in the area so that people desist from making it a dumping ground.

Accute shortage of water in Bhawani Vihar
We the residents of Bhawani Vihar, Trikuta Nagar Extn bring it to the notice of the authorities concerned that even after paying the watr tax our area has been facing water crisis forthe past one month now. Trikuta Nagar as a whole is getting water supply twice a day but Extension areas are given supply once a day that too for 40 minutes which has now been further reduced to twice/thrice a week for the past few weeks. The area officers of the Deptt every time inform that the motor has burn due to voltage drops. Will the higher authorities at the helm of officers wake up and provide voltage stabilizers besides keeping standby motors available at the pump stations in order to tide over such situations so that the public is not made to suffer since the summer season is also approaching fast.

Why no recruitment of teachers and lecturers
After formation of Union Territory of J&K, there was a great hope that the highly qualified youth will get more jobs, but it is sorry to say that the doors of employment in J&K School Education Department are almost closed. As a result, the unemployment of highly educated youth has attained alarming stage. The Ph.D, MSc MA, M.Ed and B.Ed Degree holders are getting overaged as no posts of teachers have been advertised after 2014 onwards. Similarly the posts of Lecturers 10+2 Schools have also not been advertised for the last more than six years.
The Govt sanctioned more than fity Degree Colleges, but the posts of Assistant Professors have not been sanctioned till date. Not to speak of implementation of NEP-20,the continuation of present Academics has been difficult on the ground. The youth is getting overaged in frustration. It is strange that no political party or social organisaion has raised this important issue of Recruitment of Teachers and Lecturers with Lt Governor. The higher officers seem least interested to look into the matter as to where the Direct Recruitment quota posts of teachers and lecturers have gone.
It is against the Principal of natural justice and right to livelihood. In this urgency all the politicalnparties and social organisations are requested to take up this issue with Lt Governor so that the direct quota posts of teachers and lecturers are advertised at an earliest. It is also requested that sufficient posts of Assistant Professors may also be sanctioned for the newly sanctioned Degree Colleges.

Complete drain work in Gulab Vihar Colony
The inhabitants of the Gulab Vihar Colony, Extension Sector-D, Sainik Colony Jammu Ward No 74 crave to invite the attention of Jammu Municipal Authorities towards the incompleted drain work in their locality. Of late, a drain which was being built in our locality has been left uncompleted i.e built only upto a limited stretch and left flowing with huge gush of water in the midst of the locality thereby causing serious problem to the inhabitants of the locality. That in this way the remaining portion of the drain in our locality is yet to be completed/ constructed.
Presently, the water of about 120 to 170 houses and their toilets has started flowing through the drain and accummulated in the form of a lake in front of the houses in the midst of the locality upto where the drain has been constructed and therefrom started flowing through the lanes causing very serious problem to the inhabitants. The magnitude of the problem is so huge that the accummulated dirty water has even restricted the to and fro movement of the people and the water is also sinking under the plinth of the constructed houses, thereby may cause grave damage to them. Also foul and stinking smell is emanating from the dirty accummulated water which has left the locality not a worth living place.
The summer season is at its threshold and the locals are apprehending grave risk to their health. The mosquitoes and flies will breed in a large scale in the dirty accummulated water which will cause serious diseases to the inhabitants. In nutshell, the grave situation that has erupted in the locality due to inapt handling of the issue and short-sighted approach of the then authorities is going to prove detrimental and prejudicial to the health of the people.
In the backdrop of the above mentioned facts and circumstances, the JMC authorities are requested to visit the site, assess the serious situation personally and prepare the estimate / DPR of the uncompleted drain and sanction funds on top priority for the purpose so that the concerned authorities could execute the work right from the commencement of the next financial year, to redress our genuine problem.
