Basohli people reiterate faith in Lal Singh’s leadership

KATHUA, June 8: Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan Party (DSSP) chairman and former minister, Ch. Lal Singh conducted a meeting in Basohli today to analyze the reasons for results of Lok Sabha elections. Large number of the people of the area attended the meeting and extended full support to the DSSP in the State Assembly elections.
Lal Singh also made a commitment to continue the struggle for the people of Jammu. He said that DSSP is committed to the implementation of its Vision Document. All the people of the area also extended full support to unite for the dignity of Dogras. Here the speakers expressed concern on the results and recalled the different works executed during the time when Ch. Lal Singh represented the area. They resolved to work untidily for wining of next election.
Lal Singh, while addressing the gathering also welcomed the setting the reported move of Union Government to setup the Delimitation Commission for the equal representation of the people of Jammu. He said that in Kashmir in every constituency the number of voters is only few thousand but in Jammu the number of voters is in lakhs. This is the reason that most of the area of the Jammu are far away from the development.
He also appealed to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to immediately set up the Commission and DSSP will extend full support to it. If the delimitation is possible before the next election the Jammu will definitely get its full share, he added.
He also appealed to the HM that it is high time to address the problems of a sizeable population uprooted from Mirpur, Poonch, Muzafrabad during partition and settled in Jammu province and who are leading a life of second class citizens in their own country till date. These refugees are without any political representation. In addition to this, two seats of Kashmiri Pandits who have been forced to migrate from Kashmir to Jammu under a conspiracy, may also be given to Jammu to ensure political representation to this community.
