JAMMU, Feb 17: Former JMC Councillor Sham Lal Basson has urged upon PM Modi to direct the concerned authorities for releasing pensions in favour of widows, old age people and physically challenged persons.
Addressing a press conference here today Basson said that these pensions were stopped by the Social Welfare Department in the year 2022 leaving the people in need of the petty amount to face miseries.
He informed that the beneficiaries are now asked to fulfil formalities like income certificates, proof from widows that they have not re-married, voter card, ration card, pan card, age certificates, electricity bills etc.
“Many camps were organised for completion of these formalities and when almost all these formalities were complete, the CAPD Department refused to accept the files except few for PHH ration cards,” Basson maintained adding: “Even JMC Councillors also passed resolution in General House Meeting for release of these pensions and memorandums were submitted to Chief Secretary, LG, Home Minister and Prime Minister but nothing fruitful emerged.”
He appealed to the LG administration to release these pensions in favour of the beneficiaries.
Joginder Kumar, Rattan Lal, Ajeet Kumar, Hans Raj, Ashok Arora, Darshana Devi, Krishna Devi, Mundri Ram, Guddi Devi and others were also present on the occasion.
