Batch of 353 pilgrims leave base camps, Chhari sthapana tomorrow

SRINAGAR :  A fresh batch of 353 pilgrims left  Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal base camps early this morning for the Holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
Chhari sthapana and flag hoisting will be held at Dashnami Akhara here tomorrow.
The yatra was progressing smoothly, though the number of pilgrims, undertaking the yatra, is going down every passing day, official sources said.
However, they expressed the hope that more pilgrims will  join the yatra on final darshan on August 21, rakshabandan.
They said 153 pilgrims, including sadhus and women, left Baltal base camp for the Holy cave early this morning.
Similarly, 200 yatris also left Nunwan Pahalgam base camp  for the Holy shrine this morning.
Mahant Deepender Giri, custodian of the Chhari-Mubarak,said Holy Silver Mace of Lord Shiva Sthapana and flag hoisting will be held in  Dashnmi Akhara, which houses the Holy Mace tomorrow.
On the occasion of Nagpanchami, which falls on August 11, Chhari Pujan will be held at Dashnami Akhara at 1700 hrs.
On August 16, on the occasion of Dashmi, the Chhari will start journey from Dashnami Akhara to Holy Cave shrine in south Kashmir, where the final darshan will be held on August 21 on the occasion of Shravan-Purnima, Rakshabandan. (AGENCIES)
