DODA, May 3: Tall claims of Border Roads Organization (BRO) for restoration of vehicular movement on 47-kilometer long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway proved failure as the highway remained closed for the second consecutive day causing manifold problems to the stranded people especially patients, old age and children.
The 47-kilometer long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway was closed for vehicular movement following major landslide yesterday morning at Dhansal near Assar.

Meanwhile, to ensure speedy clearance of landslides on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway at Dansal, Assar, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda Mubarak Singh alongwith officers of District Administration and Police visited the spot and supervised the road clearance work.
DDC directed the road clearance agencies to speed up the clearance work and ensure its restoration in shortest possible time so that the people of the region do not face any inconvenience.
He also directed the police deployed there to maintain law and order and ensure smooth trans-shift of the passengers leaving to their destinations.
To provide food and other necessary commodities to the stranded passengers, DDC impressed upon the shopkeepers to supply the commodities at affordable prices and also directed the Police Department to keep vigil on the rates of essential commodities sold to the stranded passengers.
He also directed Health and PHE Department to provide necessary healthcare and drinking water supply to the stranded passengers respectively.
