UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: Locals of Battal Ballian today held a strong protest against polluting industries of Cement and Insecticides in the Industrial area.
The protesting people raised slogans against District Administration and the Deportment of Industries for not taking action against the units spreading pollution in the area, inhabited by more than 15000 thousand population, Government and private schools etc.
Sarpanch Ballian Man Mohan Raina and Sarpanch Kharuni Puran Chand said that the harmful industries were posing a great threat to the lives of locals who are becoming victims of various diseases like- asthama, skin diseases, eye diseases, digestion problem etc.
Locals request to the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to personally intervene and get these units of pesticides and cement shifted to somewhere else. They threatened to gherao the District administration and Industries Department if these 15 polluting units of Cement and pesticides are not immediately shifted.
The protest demonstration was addressed by Naib Sarpanch Kharuni Makund Lal, Fateh Singh, Pritam Chand, Keham Raj Lambarhdar, Suram Chand, Inder Singh, and Om Parkash Sharma.
