Sir,
If match fixing and spot fixing in cricket could be equated with betting, there would not be underplaying. Gambling is associated with cheating. Public investment and disastrous results accompany both. These can also be used as a means of bribing (corruption). No responsible parents would like to see their children falling prey to this malaise. Let us own only good qualities from others and avoid bad things. Even ICC will not allow match fixing, why should we think of legalising it.
Ours is the oldest great civilization. Our history gives us useful lessons and guidelines. It was gambling through which Pandvas were deprived of their kingdom which led them to disastrous war with Korvas called Mahabharta. No religion permits gambling. Though we cannot boast of having remained immune, menaces like gun culture, cruelty on women and widespread corruption has crept in our society too. However, majority of our people abhor and detest, these aberration. Bull fights angling duels, sadistic enjoyment of cruelty on animals and human beings are still alien to us. May God save us from all inhuman behaviour!
Yours etc….
