Battle of Article 370 has to be fought politically: Beg

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 18: Dr Mehboob Beg, general secretary Organization and ex MP, Lok Sabha in a statement issued here said ” While people of Jammu & Kashmir feel grateful to the eminent jurists of the nation, who are vehemently pleading the Constitutional (Article 370) case in the Supreme Court of India and are asserting that not only the bill passed in Parliament on (August 5 and 6 , 2019) making Article 370 dysfunctional is violative of the Constitution in letter and spirit but the procedure followed to do so was “unknown to law”.
This is exactly what People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been saying consistently from day one that whatever happened inside both the houses of Parliament on 5th August 2019 onwards with regards to the State of Jammu and Kashmir and Article 370 was a political act and not a Constitutional one.
The battle that has been initiated with a purpose to serve political dividends by the BJP has to be fought politically in a peaceful, Constitutional and democratic way.
While people of Jammu & Kashmir are hoping against hope (Supreme Court proceedings) but not much can be expected as it is too little, too late. Dr. Mehboob Beg asked those leaders who say and have pinned all hopes in the Supreme Court, “If the Court delivers a judgment (God- forbid) in favour of August 5, 2019 happenings, what will be their stand in the case,. Will they join Peoples Democratic Party which says in order to exist we have to resist”.
