JAMMU, Aug 24; The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its meeting at Village ChackLal Din to discuss various issues regarding welfare of the community, here today.
During the meeting, Batwal community students studying in higher classes informed that their scholarships for the year 2013-14 have not so far been released to them by the Social Welfare Department, which have left them in the lurch.
The Association urged the Minister for Social Welfare Department Bali Bhagat to look into the matter and ensure release of the pending scholarships of SC students at an earliest.
On the other hand, the community’s unemployed youth also told the meeting that despite being highly educated, they were hankering for Government job which was being denied to them by the recruiting agencies. They said without job they cannot come out of poverty and lead a dignified life.

The appeal of the Association’s president was endorsed by the General Secretary of the Association, R L. Kaith.
The Association expressed concerns over inaction of the ministry of HRD on its series of representations forwarded by the President’s Secretariat, New Delhi.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of the Association Subedar Major (retd) Romesh Sargotra took oath of his office.
