Batwal Association submits memorandum

JAMMU, May 26: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeking categorization of the Scheduled Castes into sub groups with assigning each sub group a fraction of the reservation quota.
This would ensure better and equal distribution of MBBS/BDS seats among the medical students and Govt jobs to the unemployed youth belonging to thirteen constituents of the Scheduled Castes, maintained the Association.
In the memorandum, the Association has stated that since independence, the Union and State Government have done a lot for the advancement and betterment of all socially and economically weaker sections but so far nothing has been done for the most backward Batwal Scheduled Caste community.
“Batwal community which has a big strength has been totally neglected by the Government at all levels and this has been the reason of its backwardness and abject poverty.  It has not been given any representation in any forum of the Government. It has also no effective say in the State only due to non-representation to them”, the memorandum said.
The memorandum said that the children of Batwal community belonging to poor families have to study in the Government Schools  where in  because of poor education they could not perform well and compete with those Scheduled Caste children who study in top class private schools and receive quality education.
