Batwal Welfare Association elects office bearers; urges Govt to redress problems

JAMMU, May 29: Jammu Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association today unanimously elected former MLA Sat Pal Lakhotra as its president for the second time consecutively.
Raj Kumar Kaith was elected as Chairman while GC Sandhu and Joginder Lakhotra as Deputy Chairman’s. Om Parkash Tugga and Dilay Ram Kaith as senior vice presidents, Kamal Chand Motan, Ram Lal Sargotra, Gunni Kaith, Thoru Ram Mandi, Ghasita Ram Lakhotra and Kamal Singh Kaith as vice presidents.
RL Kaith as general secretary, OP Sargotra as secretary, Ram Lal Lakhotra, Uttam Chand Sandhu, Hakikat Anmol and Harish Bhardwaj as joint secretaries, Dev Raj Tugga and Ravail Chand Lakhotra as organizing secretaries, Baldev Chand Sandhu, Hans Raj Motan and Rashpal Chand Bassa as security secretaries.
Sonika Lakhotra as law secretary, Piara Lal Lakhotra as cultural secretary, Dharminder Lakhotra and Ashwani Lahoria as information secretaries, SP Lakhotra and Vijay Bassa as press secretaries, Birender Kaith as publicity secretary, Narayan Dass Bassa as treasurer and Karnail Singh Kaith as auditor.
Mela Ram Tugga, Gian Chand Kaith, Som Nath Tugga, Punnu Ram Kaith, Beli Ram Kaith, Nand Lal Lakhotra, Kewal Krishan Sandhu, Chaman Lal Kaith, Suraj Parkash Sargotra, Ram Lal Bassa, Bishan Dass Tugga, Mohan Lal Motan, Dass Ram Tugga, Kewal Krishan Mandi, Subash Chander Kaith, Baldev Raj Lakhotra, Raj Kumar Kaith, Lal Chand Motan, Amar Nath Kaith, Surjeet Kumar Motan, Bua Ditta Kaith, Jeet Lal Sandhu and Ashok Kumar Motan were elected as members of the association.
While Dr Ramesh Kumar Kaith who has been acting as joint Election Commissioner of the association was unanimously elected as Chief Advisor of the association by the general body.
Addressing a press conference, the newly elected members of the association alleged that the Government has failed to redress the problems of the Batwal Community and the community has not given any sort of representation in the Rajya Sabha, State Legislature, State Development Board and District Development Boards.
The association urged the Government to redress the problems of the community at the earliest and also demanded treatment at par with other communities.
