Batwals celebrate Bhagwan Buddha Jayanti

RS PURA, June 22: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association today celebrated 2576th Bhagwan Buddha Jayanti Samapan Samaroh at village Phinder here in traditional religious fervour.
Romesh Mottan, chief patron, All India Batwal Welfare Association and president, J&K Batwal Welfare Association, was the chief guest while Mohd Yousif Malik, SDM was the special guest.
Tehsildar RS Pura, Anil Magotra, BDO Bishnah, Sonu Pargal, ZEO, Mira Sahib, Dev Raj participated as special invitees whereas senior vice-president of the Association, Ravi Kaith presided over the function.
The programme started with lighting of the candles by the chief guest and special guests followd by Bhagwan Buddha Vandana by the devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, Mottan spoke on the history of Bhagwan Budh in detail and paid tribute to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who impressed by the philosophy and teachings of Bhagwan Budh, after embracing Buddhism in 1956.
Sunita Rani, president, Mahila Wing and Suresh Chargotra, president Youth Wing of J&K Batwal Welfare Association also addressed the devotees. They advised the politicians to take lesson from the teachings of lord Buddha and serve the humanity with missionary zeal without any personal interest.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by Vandhana and Mohan Didar, prominent singers from Jallandhar.
The Association also rewarded those officers who performed their duties with honesty and the students who got positions in class 10 and 12th.
