Batwals to celebrate Guru Gyagi Jayanti on Feb 9

JAMMU, Jan 14: Batwal community will celebrate 123rd birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gyagi Ji on February 9 at Shahzadpur in Jammu.
This was decided by the Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association during its meeting held today at Shahzadpur Kothi. The meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Subedar Ghaseeta Ram Lakhotra and attended by a large number of Batwal community members hailing from different corners.
During the meeting, a ‘Birth Commemorative Committee’ was constituted by the Association with an objective to make the programme a grand success.
The Association also urged the Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to officially declare Guru Gyagi Jayanti as public holiday in Jammu district under the J&K Negotiable Instrument Act as has been done in case of other saints and seers.
Prominent among others present in the meeting were JMC Corporator Rashpal Chand Bhardwaj, Sewadar Amar Nath, Captain Ram Lal Sargotra, Captain Kamal Chand Motan, Subedar Major (Retd) Romesh Sargotra, Subedar (Retd) Baldev Chand Motan, Ex Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra and Madan Lal Kaith.
