JAMMU, Dec 24: The BB Institute of Mass Communication organized a special lecture on the topic Role & Responsibility of Media in our Society by veteran journalist O P Sharma, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the guest speaker highlighted the growing power of the mass media in shaping the public opinion in the society in India. He spoke about the rapid development of both the press and the electronic media in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Press, he said, has played a pivotal role in meeting the challenges and despite many hurdles put the State on the path of peace and progress by enlisting the public participation in the development programmes and welfare schemes aimed at uplift of the society.
The Journalism and Mass Communication students of this institute actively interacted with Mr Sharma by putting vital questions about the media—print and electronic, in democratic set-up in country. They put searching question about the openings for the budding media persons in Jammu and Kashmir.
