JAMMU, Mar 23: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has demanded extension of Central package of incentives for the J&K State at par with North Eastern States.
In a meeting of the BBIA held under the presidentship of Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Suresh Mahajan, senior vice president, Varun Singla vice president, Ajay Langer general secretary, Vivek Singhal secretary and Viraaj Malhotra, treasurer BBIA, the members discussed the Centre package of incentives granted to Northern Eastern States by ignoring J&K State.
During the course of discussions the members present in the meeting raised serious concern for ignoring J & K State by the Central Govt while extending the package of incentive to the North Eastern States resulting uncertainty prevailed in respect of future industrial growth in the State.
While appreciating the roll of Chief Minister and Industries Minister for taking up the matter with the Union Government for the extension of DIPP package of incentives for the J&K State at par with the North Eastern States, the Central Govt ignored the J & K State while sanctioning a huge amount of Rs 3000 crores Industrial Package to the NE States by ignoring the request of J&K Govt for the extension of same package for the industrial sector of J&K State.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that the people of the J&K State are suffering badly since last 20 years due to militancy and geographical location being located at the far end of the Northern India with land locked State, Higher Input Cost resulting higher production cost & limited marketing avenues, surrendered by the neighbors like Pakistan and China but inspite of all the odds the industrial sector is working and providing direct and indirect employment to the lakhs of local people.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the employment avenues in the private sector is depends on the investment in the industrial sector due to limited job opportunities in the Govt sector and it is need of the hour to attract new investment in industrial sector by providing fiscal benefits to utilize the massive infrastructure available here.
The BBIA urged upon the Chief Minister and Industries Minister Chander Parkash to take up the matter with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
