JAMMU, June 20: Block Congress Committee Bishnah has expressed strong resentment against the Government for the non-payment of relief to the farmers for their damaged crops.
In a meeting of the BCC held at the party office Bishnah the speakers including Gulchain Singh Charak, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Madan Lal, Gurbachan Bhagat, Gurnam Singh and others expressed serious concern over the attitude of the State Government. They alleged that farmers have suffered a lot due to rains, floods and hailstorm but the Government has failed to provide compensation for their damaged crops.
A large number of prominent farmers and representatives of people living near the Indo-Pak border, Numberdars, Chowkidars & members of Panchayats participated in the meeting.
The speakers highlighted the problems being faced by the people of the whole constituency especially the farmers and the people residing near the border, who are at the verge of starvation, because of non-payment of relief for their 100% loss of crops due to unprecedented and untimely floods, hailstorm and firing from across the border. They demanded that Government should take immediate necessary measures to save them from further suffering. The local speakers also requested Gulchain Singh Charak to take up these issues with the concerned authorities at the earliest.
Mr Charak assured that he will take up these issues with the concerned authorities as soon as possible and try to get justice for the sufferers. He urged upon the Government to take immediate necessary measures to mitigate the serious problems being faced by the people. He also condemned the authorities for introducing 2 years B.Ed/M.Ed course in the University of Jammu only and not in the Kashmir University as it will be worst type of discrimination with the students of this region.
Expressing his views about the preservation of Dogra Heritage, especially the Mubarak Mandi, he disclosed that the Chief Minister along with other senior Ministers had assured the Jammuites in the meeting of Governing Body, MMJHS held on June 19, 2015 that the Dogra heritage including “Mubarak Mandi” will be preserved properly and work on its restoration/conservation will be expedited.
He also appealed the Congress workers to immediately deposit their membership books so that same could be deposited in the office of Pradesh Congress Committee.
