BD protests in front of Div Com office

JAMMU, June 6: Bajrang Dal today staged a demonstration in front of Divisional Commissioner’s Office here in protest against the dismantling of the houses of the people at Gole Gujral by JDA a month back.
The affected people also took part in the demonstration demanding immediate compensation to them for restoration of their houses and shops dismantled by JDA at Gole Gujral in its bid to remove the encroachments.
The protestors said that instead of removing encroachments the bonafide people who had constructed their houses in the area over 30 years back were harassed and their houses and shops were dismantled making them shelterless and depriving them of their livelihood.
Later a delegation of the victims and BD leaders called on Divisional Commissioner, Shantmanu who assured them that the people will be granted permission to live on that very particular piece of land at Gole Gujral which has been purchased by them.
The BD leaders demanded that within three days the land be restored to these people and they be given right to settle their failing which BD will intensify agitation.
Later another delegation of VHP and BD leaders led by VHP general secretary, Dr Sham Lal Gupta called on Principal Government Medical College Jammu and demanded that extra care be taken towards the health of Vinod Sawhney who has been hospitalized two days back after his condition deteriorated during the fast at Hari Market.
Mr Sawhney was on fast at Hari market after his khokha which was allotted to him by the Government some years back was dismantled by JMC recently and since then he was on fast in protest against the action of Municipal Corporation.
