JAMMU, June 4: Bajrang Dal (BD) staged a demonstration in front of Press Club here today against the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for dismantling the residential houses of the bonafide people in Gole Gujral area of the city who had purchased the land and have relevant records for the same.
The demonstration was led by convener, BD Rakesh Sharma. The protestors said that instead of evicting the land grabbers from the area the JDA authorities dismantled the residential houses of the people who had all valid documents for the same.
Raising slogans against the JDA authorities the protestors demanded that the people whose houses and compound walls etc were dismantled by JDA be given adequate compensation.
The protestors also accused the State Government of total discrimination and alleged that instead of acting against the land grabbers it has acted against the law abiding people.
They said that the land encroachers are being shielded by the Government and BD along with the affected families will protest in front of Divisional Commissioner’s Office.
BD activist from Jammu Subash Chander Tony said that people residing in the area for last over 30 years with valid documents are facing the ire of authorities just to protect the land grabbers.
He said for last 25 days people whose houses were damaged are living with their relatives and friends. He said the dismantling of the shops of the people has rendered them jobless. He warned that in case the administration fails to pay adequate compensation to people they will come to streets and BD will intensify agitation.
Meanwhile, the residents of the area whose houses and shops were demolished by the JDA despite having valid documents and registration of the land said that they were running from pillar to post for justice.
In an appeal to the well meaning people of the society they sought their intervention in restoring their land to them which has been fenced by JDA. Subash Chander, Shakti Parkash,Venus Banalia, Rajesh Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Swarno Devi, Devinder Sharma, Rohit Banalia, Raj Kumar and others who have been rendered shelterless due to JDA action are in great distress for last 25 days.
