JAMMU, Apr 13: Birthdays of Bharat Ratan Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule were celebrated today at Shelter Home (Home for urban homeless) Boria, Gorkh Nagar (Bahu Fort, Jammu) with inmates of Rehan Basera.
Retired Judge Subash Chander Gupta was chief guest on the occasion. He along with other guests including Sham Lal Basson (president, All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch) paid rich tribute to Baba Saheb and Jyotirao Phule. While speaking on this occasion, Subash Chander Gupta said, “Empowerment of women enshrined in the Constitution of India is great contribution of Baba Saheb. He said that Dr Ambedkar was not only leader of SC, ST and OBC but he also contributed for all people of country.
Sham Lal Basson, while speaking, expressed the life and mission of Dr Ambedkar and Jyotirao Phule. Advocate Rajinder Kumar also expressed his views regarding contributions of Baba Saheb.
The Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhawan Committee, Chak-Avtara (Bishnah) celebrated birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Kabir Bhawan, Chak-Avtara, Bishnah. The function was largely attended by Ambedkarites from all the districts of Jammu division. Besides the celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti, the programme was sharply focused on the central thesis of Dr Ambedkar.
Col R L Pangotra was invited as chief guest while B L Bhagat (Retired SP) was guest of honor on the occasion. President of Kabir Sabha, F C Bhagat affirmed that while celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti we must not forget his efforts for the upliftment of the weaker section of the society. Among others who also attended the event and spoke on the occasion were Narinder Bhagat, Tarsem Lal, Gurdass Bhagat and Dr Shalini Bhagat.
