UDHAMPUR, May 16: Panic gripped village Gabar, Ward number two in Latti Panchayat of tehsil Chenani when a female bear along with its three cubs sneaked into the area from nearby woods.
Even as sounds raised by the locals led to female bear to again move towards forest area, one of the cubs entered into house of one Des Raj where it was captured.
Sarpanch of Latti Panchayat, Kasturi Lal Gupta immediately rang up the Range Officer Rakesh Gupta for sending a team of Wildlife Department to shift the cub to zoo. However, the Range Officer apprised that small cub can not survive as per earlier instances and hence he suggested to set it free near the forest area with some precautions.
“Acting on the suggestion, we safely set the cub free near the forest area where the mother bear was growling,” said Sarpanch Kasturi Lal and informed that a number of bear attack incidents have taken place in the same village during the past some time.
