JAMMU, July 26: Former Union Minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that Government’s move for plugging the sources of funding the terror and secessionism in Kashmir should have been done much earlier because it has come to be a business of certain elements on human blood and threat to peace and security.
Prof Gupta recalled that he as a member of the Assembly had been raising this issue in the House. From the Government side considerable information used to be provided about the seizures of large sums including foreign currency as also smuggled narcotics, mostly the heroin but hardly anyone was taken to task and given punishment.
This approach of slackness led to encouragement to the hawala operators, smugglers and others in engineering violence including the gun totting, stone pelting and other modes of terrorizing the peace loving people to go by the dictates of separatists and the enemy agents active in various guises, he alleged and stressed that to check the wrought, the funding sources should be taken care of and beneficiaries of this trade of the blood and unrest must be brought to book and engineers of trouble should be exposed before the suffering masses and rest of the world.
Prof Gupta said that it was surprising that certain politicians are extending their support to such elements challenging the integrity of the Country even after being under oath of the constitution. Such dubious characters should also be taken to task and exposed for changing colours like whether cocks.
He emphasized for sustained approach to tackle the menace which has consumed so many human lives and caused destruction making the life miserable for lakh of people who have become refugees within their own country.
