JAMMU, Nov 24: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and Bentley Systems, USA have collaborated to set up the BIM (Building Information Modeling) Advancement Lab with cutting-edge industry-relevant software catering to diverse sub-domains of Civil Engineering. The Lab was inaugurated by Vinayak Trivedi, Vice President and Global Head, Bentley Institute in the presence of Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, Vinod Malhotra, former Development Commissioner and Town Planner, Jammu, R. Arun Kumar, Manager India, Academics, Bentley, Charu Chaudhary, Relation Manager, North India, Bentley and Rominder Bedi, CEO, Innovative Systel a channel partner for Bentley Systems.
The Bentley BIM Advancement Lab is the first and the only industry-driven center of excellence in Civil Engineering in the State of J&K and among the first few in North India. It will provide access and training to students and faculty members to over 50 world-class software products from the Bentley stable including the famed STAADPro, MxRoad, AECOSim and MicroStation among others.
These software packages have been used in the design and development of world-renowned infrastructure projects from the world’s largest malls in Dubai to the Jammu-Udhampur highway.
Speaking on the occasion, Trivedi provided an overview of Bentley Systems and its philosophy.
The Lab, it is believed will help equip MIET Civil Engineering students develop world-class skills and help contribute to the development of J&K infrastructure. He also outlined the future of large-scale infrastructure project using the comprehensive suite of software products from Bentley.
As part of the BIM Advancement Lab, each faculty and student of MIET will be able to access legal Bentley Software on their laptops on a 24×7 basis. Training on key technologies and packages will be delivered through Innovative Systel, the channel partner of Bentley.
On the occasion, two renowned Civil Engineers of the State, Darshan Gupta, Structural Engineer and Vinod Malhotra, former Chief Town Planner, Jammu delivered keynote addresses outlining modern trends in the conceptualization and design of future smart cities including the challenges and pit-falls involved.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET described setting up of the Bentley BIM Advancement Lab as a major milestone for MIET.
