The protestors were led by the President of the Beopar Mandal Baramulla, Muhammad Ashraf Ganai who said that the administration, particularly, Beacon authorities have been turning a blind eye towards the immense hardships faced by the traders as well as the commoners due to the open drainage in the main town.
“We have been raising the issue repeatedly with the concerned authorities even it was decided by the district administration that the works will be carried out by the Beacon, but, nothing has been done so far,” he said.
He said that their major concern is the dilapidated condition of the drainage on both sides of the National Highway, which is being ignored by the concerned Beacon authorities.
“Even after the passage of more than 30 days now, nothing has been done and there is utter inaction from the Beacon authorities,” the protestors said.
The Municipal Council in this regard has already stated that they are carrying out the de-silting of the drainage and after that, the Beacon has to lay the slap meant to cover the open drainage.
Notably, the earlier slab laid by the Beacon collapsed just after few days following which the district administration, Baramulla directed the R&B to dismantle the existing slab and lay a fresh one after its cleaning by the MC, Baramulla.
