JAMMU, Oct 3: Bahu Fort Development Committee has expressed concern over the menace of monkeys within the famous Bagh-e-Bahu Garden, Shri Mata Maha Kali Temple Bahu Fort and also adjoining residential areas.
Ishant Gupta, spokesperson, BFDC, said that the menace of monkeys has become a matter of aggravation among the visitors but till now no action has been taken by Jammu Municipal Corporation as well as the Wildlife Department to end this menace. There are gangs of monkeys often seen pouncing on the visitors, who carry ‘Parsad’ with them, he added.
Keeping in view the huge rush of devotees who visit the shrine in large numbers to seek the blessings of Shri Mata Maha Kali during the 9 days of Navratras commencing from October 5 and the life of the people living in the adjoining areas besides children, studying in nearby schools of the area, Gupta requested JMC Comm-sioner, Kiran Wattal, to look into the matter and take some immediate steps to make the shrine and the adjoining area free of monkeys’ terror.
