BGSBU observes IPR Day

RAJOURI, Apr 26: Environmental Sciences, Centre of Biodiversity Studies, BGSB University, celebrated the World Intellectual Property Right Day 2024.
On this occasion, faculty members, students and research scholars of Environmental Sciences participated in the program.
Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, in his message, asserted that this day, established in 2000 by The World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) aims to spread awareness about Intellectual Property (IPR) Rights and it encourages innovation and creativity to drive human progress.
The Vice Chancellor mentioned that this day brings in an opportunity to highlight the role that IP rights, such as, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright, play in encouraging innovation and creativity.
Dr A A Shah, Associate Dean, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology, deliberated that this day marks the opportunity to educate people on the need for IP protection to protect the creator’s rights and copyright as well as the public interest.
Dr Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, CBS, delivered a keynote address during the event. He stated that the official theme of the day 2024 is IP and the SDGs: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity. World Intellectual Property Day is an opportunity for both inventors and creators for people across the world to promote IP solutions that shape the world, he added.
Dr Mamta Bhat, in her concluding remarks, stated that the celebration is an opportunity to connect inventors and creators with people all over the world and to explore and promote IP solutions in shaping the world.
Dr Nazia Parveen, Assistant Professor conducted the proceeding of the program while Dr Rifat Azam, Assistant Professor, presented the vote of thanks.
