RAJOURI, Oct 21: The Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, in collaboration with Himalayan Khyber Resorts and Spa, Gulmarg, organised a one-day national conference on the theme ‘Future of Hospitality and Tourism: Innovations, Governance and Critical Paths’, here.
In his address, Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU said that theme of the conference is one of the high priorities in present times and it is the responsibility of researchers all over the world to explore the future trends of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
Prof Akbar said that after Covid-19, for the Tourism industry it won’t be business as usual and we need to redefine, refocus and change the game plan to move forward. He mentioned that the Centre for Hospitality and Tourism is marching ahead to come up with cutting edge research in Tourism studies and this conference is one such initiatives where scholars from across the country have come together to exchange their ideas.
Prof Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs, said that the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted several industries, and hospitality was particularly affected. However, it showed immense resilience, and it continues to flourish, he added.
Deputy Director Centre for Hospitality, Dr Danish Iqbal Raina, who was the Co patron of the conference, presented welcome address.
Those who presented expert talks on the occasion, included Prof Divya Thakur from IEC University, Dr Rayaz Qureshi from University of Kashmir, Puneet Saxena from Nayush Travel Experiences Pvt Ltd, Dr Ashiq Najar from Central University of Kashmir, Peerzada Faiyaz Ahmed from Responsible Tourism Society of India, Dr Ashaq Malik from Govt PG College Rajouri and Dr Shreekar Pant from BGSBU.
A panel discussion was also held on the occasion. Two parallel technical sessions were held in which research scholars and faculty members presented their research contributions. Dr Parvez Abdulla, Organising secretary of the conference proposed the vote of thanks.
