BGSBU organizes symposium, quiz competition on internet

RAJOURI, Apr 19: Post Graduate Department of Information Technology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), organised a symposium and quiz competition on “Impact of Internet on our daily life”.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal, was the chief guest, while Dean Academic Affairs Prof AK Koul, Principal College of Engineering and Technology Prof Mohd Asgar, Principal Polytechnic College KK Dogra, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor Suneet Gupta, HoD Management Studies Prof K Gupta, HoD Arabic Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum, besides large number of students from various post graduate and under-graduate departments of the University and nearby colleges were also present.
Tasleem Arif, Incharge Head, Post Graduate Department of Information Technology, presented the welcome address and highlighted the importance of internet in daily life.
In the quiz competition, Sheifa Liyaqat, Omar Bashir and Mehru Nisa of the Department of Computer Sciences bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In the symposium, Waleed Bin Owais of Department of Technology Engineering won the first prize.
At last, Vice Chancellor, distributed cash prizes, mementoes and certificates to the winners vis-à-vis certificates of participation among all the participating students.
While speaking, Prof Hamal dwelt upon the need of internet for the modern day society along with its various applications and advantages for the academic community.
Majid Bashir Malik, Asstt Prof, Department of Computer Science acted as quiz master, whereas Dr Javid Iqbal, Asstt Prof, Department of Applied Mathematics and Dr Pervaiz Abdullah, Asstt Prof, Department of Management Studies were the observers during quiz competition.
