BGSBU VC appeals agitating teachers to resume class work

Excelsior Correspondent

RAJOURI, Aug 31: As the ongoing strike by Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) teachers entered into sixth day today, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Irshad Hamal has appealed the agitating faculty to resume class work in the interest of students career.
He said that majority of the demands projected by the teachers have been conceded and policy matters were under consideration which may take some time to get mitigated.
Admitting that the University has to work under constraints in view of limited resources and remote geographical conditions, the VC however hoped that these difficulties would be overcome soon.
The demands projected by the teachers are being discussed by a committee and the talks are yielding results. A few issues require further discussion which I hope will also be addressed soon. Further delay in resumption of teaching shall only lead to academic loss and inertia in the University. The academic activity should, therefore, be resumed in the interest of our students and the stability of the University, the VC appealed.
Meanwhile, extending support to the VC, BGSBU Non Teaching Association has also appealed the agitating teachers to avoid such pressure tactics which damage the career of students.
A meeting of the Association was held on the campus wherein the members highlighted the achievements of University and cooperative approach of the BGSBU administration.
A delegation of BUNTA also met Teaching Association president and made him formal appeal to look into the request of the non teaching community for smooth functioning of the university.
