SRINAGAR: Health Minister Bali Bhagat the face the wrath of angry patients and their attendants when he visited SMHS hospital,where large number of patients, including those hit by pellets are admitted.

Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said that Mr Bhagat today paid a surprise visit to the SMHS hospital and reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients.

Eyewitnesses said that as soon as Mr Bhagat entered SMHS hospital, where majority of the people injured in the ongoing unrest were being treated, scores of patients and their attendants, raised ”pro-freedom” and anti-Government slogans.

However, when Mr Bhagat entered the ward in which pellet victims with eye injuries were being treated, the protestors intensified their agitation and demanded that the minister leaves immediately.

But, official spokesman said the Minister inspected various wards like Emergency, Out Patient Department (OPD), Surgical units, and Ophthalmology section and interacted with the patients and doctors to enquire about quality of services available in the Hospital.

He said the Minister also interacted with the eye injury patients to enquire about their present condition and medical facilities being provided to them.

“Mr Bhagat assured them that the Government is committed to provide quality medical facilities to them and further arrangements, if required, will be made for their advanced treatment,” he said. (AGENCIES)
