JAMMU, Mar 13: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat today kick-started tile work in Chenani town involving an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh. The work will be executed by Municipal Committee Chenani.
Addressing people on the occasion, the MLA said that with the completion of this work the people of town would get better civic amenities. He said that upgrading civic amenities in limits of Municipal Committees is pivotal in improving the rural economy.
Stressing on maintaining quality of work being executed and its time bound completion, Bhagat directed the concerned for ensuring use of good quality vitrified tiles in construction of lanes of the town.
He asked the Executive Officer Municipal Committee to prepare DPRs of further up-gradation of civic amenities in the town so that these could be submitted to concerned quarters for approval and funding.
Urging people to keep their surroundings neat and clean, the MLA also directed the concerned for launching special cleanliness drive and ensure that sewerage lines are not choked in the municipal areas as it can be hazardous to health.
Later, the MLA handed over regularization orders to over dozens of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers who were regularized after successful completion of period.
Referring to developmental activities being carried-out under several sectors in constituency, the MLA said that the work of blacktopping and macadamization on various road projects in the constituency has been taken into hand and some of them is nearing completion. He said that the Union Government has also approved the up-gradation of Chenani- Sudhmahadev Section of National Highway-244 under EPC mode on which the work will be started soon.
He said the Union Government headed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been providing liberal funding for development to ensure provision of improved basic facilities to people of the State especially living in hilly and far-off areas, he maintained.
